2016/2022 - EL_SOYAME PROJECT
ELSOYAME is a multimedia project that brings together contemporary, electronics, jazz, rock with the fundamental support of a visual part elaborated in real time.
The visual part of the project was born as an organic and identifying phase.
The visual material took over the music in a next step, and slowly the two dimensions began to merge us to create a single body that contains a dialectic between the image and the sound.
The image comes from the sound not to highlight it but rather as if it were a musical instrument, so it is manipulated live through MIDI commands.
It is not a video that accompanies a musical concert, instead of visual material that is born thanks to the poetics of music and lyrics but that goes to distort, decompose and reform in a continuous electronic game that oscillates between the cinematic image and video art.
The songs contain written music and âfreeâ moments, where the performers move in defined harmonic regions.
From a compositional point of view, the predominant aspect consists in the LIVE performance of the components: Electronics, Electric Guitar, Double Bass, Vocal/Sax and Visual part.
In particular, electronics use projects that develop in real time the aspects related to the psychoacoustics of sound: height (pitch), duration, intensity, timbre, spectrum. These parameters are constantly varied by software applications that modulate values during execution. For example, a rhythm of battery, conterr[and" variables related to the touch/intensity of the elements of the percussive kit, as well as the choice of the workpiece to be beaten, or the delay or advance (humanization) of the time to be held. It can be said that we try first of all to avoid the ârepetitive loopâ, typical of most of the electronic music of recent years, linked to the live performances of DJ sets.
